SWISS PASSES - What's the Difference
With
just one ticket, the Swiss Tavel Pass, you can see the most spectacular scenic
wonders, untouched natural beauty and explore a myriad of fascinating
and unique museums, all included with one price. From the train station
to your hotel, into the city or to a museum, all by public transport
on one pass.
The Swiss Pass, as well as the Swiss Flexi Pass, Swiss Saver Pass and
the Swiss Youth Pass, allow for unlimited travel on urban public transportation
in 41 towns and cities, free museums and discounts on select excursion
aerial cables and cog trains. Other passes are available, The Family
Pass, Transfer Pass, Select Pass, with
Switzerland
included
in the
Eurail
System, in fact one of the founding countries of Eurail, so that Switzerland
can be included in multi-country passes from Rail Europe and ACP and
other pass sellers. Individual tickets are easy to obtain at rail stations
or through seller websites.
What's the difference? The Swiss Travel Pass allows an option for either a designated amount of continuous
days or for a selected number of day within a certain period of time, like 4 days of travel within a month (formerly Flexipass). The SaverPass is for two
traveling together. Passes are available in First
Class or Second Class. The Youth Pass is a lower cost for under 26
and Second Class only. A Transfer Ticket gets you from a border to a single
destination.
The FlexiPass
version is
probably the most popular for value, though keep in mind that the
museums, public transit
and discounts are only on the specified day of travel, not valid on the
unused days. The Swiss Travel Pass also includes some special excursions like cruise boats and cable cars, or with discounts. Starting in 2017 the Swiss tavel Pass will include Mt Pilatus for the first time.
